I've been teaching jewellery and Tiara making for over 20 years. Recently I returned to Roe Green Junior School in London to run a series of Viking inspired jewellery workshops for 120 of their ten year olds. My research revealed that, according to the Anglo Saxon Chronicles, the Vikings first landed not on Lindisfarne but on Portland in 787. They continued to return for the next 200 years and even set up a fortified camp on the Island. This really inspired me to create my own viking costume and jewellery, as well as to create new jewellery pieces that are loosely based on viking hacksilver.
