A new participatory Outdoor Artwork

This exciting new project was conceived as a idea to submit to the Dorset Festival Consortium for the Dorset Moon Project which came to Bournemouth Central Gardens, Sherbourne Abbey and Nothe Fort Weymouth in June and July 2019. The Dorset Moon was presented by a consortium of Dorset Festivals- Inside Out Dorset/ Activate, Bournemouth Arts by the Sea and b-side

Inspired by the original brief I decided to develop my idea and bring it to Open for Art 2019 previewing at Venue 60: Art with a View

Over the course of 15 days I invited visitors to help attach 5500 recycled waterproof paper feathers to a 2.8m high set of Angel wings.  This gave them the fantastic opportunity of ‘becoming an Angel’ by taking selfies with the large scale wings in front of the stunning views over Portland Harbour from Artist Olivia Nurrishs’ hidden gem of a garden. In addition I ran family orientated wing making workshops using recycled materials.

I'm was really excited to bring such a positive, community orientated project to Open for Art and thrilled to have helped visitors find their inner Angel.
